Bryan’s Shearwater Puffinus bryani
This species was described new species in 2011 (Pyle et al., 2011).
In Japan, several birds collected on Bonin Is; Chichijima, Hahajima and several abandoned Is since 1997.
At sea, the first bird seen off Mukojima, Bonon Is in 2009. After that, several birds seen at same area and around N Izu Is. Especially there are several records off Mukojima in early spring; Mar, and mid-summer to autumn; Aug-Sep. Perhaps going north in summer; Jul-Aug, because at least 4 birds seen N Izu Is; around Hachijyojima.
Breeding site found Higashijima; Bonin Is in 2015, and other small abandoned islands recorded call and corpse, these islands may be breeding site. Breeds Nov-Apr?
