Leach’s Storm-Petrel Oceanodroma leucorhoa

Summer visitor; Apr-Nov. Common around S and E Hokkaido, E Honshu, Izu Is and Bonin Is. Rarely seen Sea of Japan of NW Honshu.

Breeding sites are confirmed on E Hokkaido; Habomaimoshiri-jima, Daikoku-jima (>570,000 nests), Kenbokke-jima, Akkeshi-kojima, and Iwate Pref; Hide-jima, Funakoshi-oshima, Sangan-jima. Perhaps may breeds on Izu Is; Hachijyo-kojima and Miyagi Pref; Ashi-jima.
