Location: Hachinohe – Tomakomai Ferry Route
Date: Dec. 11-12, 2021
Vessel: Silver Ferry (Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen Kaisya,LTD.), Regular Ferry route
Purpose: Regular route monitoring and seasonal seabird survey
Key Species: Laysan Albatross
Weather/Sea Conditions:
Day 1: Fine/Cloudy; NW 0-15 kt; Waves 1.5-2.0 m
Day 2: Mostly Fine
Notes: A mass of floating sardines was observed, attracting a large congregation of over 300 Laysan Albatrosses in the area.
